Disney World: Part 1

The thought of going to Disney World with my girls always made me excited, but we didn't plan on going for a while. When a work trip fell through and we already had time off planned, the Cook clan and my mom (aka Grammy D) decided on a last minute Disney trip. It was such a fun trip! Definitely one of those that I will never forget.

Disney has everything down to a science from the moment you book your trip. They send you customized things in the mail, have a planning DVD that Maddie watched on repeat and have a website where you book your Fast Pass attractions and dining reservations in advance. I haven't been to Disney since I was little, so I had to research what a Fast Pass even was!

We booked to stay at a Disney hotel for a few nights, Port Orleans Riverside, and it was perfect. First of all, so nice to be able to check our luggage at the airport and it goes straight to our room! And a bus picks us up and drives us to our hotel. You never realize how great these little things are until you have girlies who are going crazy the second we get off the plane. We stayed in one of their 'royal rooms' which are totally princessed out. Maddie was running all over the room in excitement to see the light up headboard or the aladdin lamp shaped faucet. It is pretty cute.

Since we got there mid-day the first day, we just swam at the pool and took the riverboat to Downtown Disney. Maddie got brave for a second and decided she was going to go down the waterslide all by herself. She was watching all the other kids and I think she didn't realize what it was. She went down once with Ben and they went so slow since Ben was too big. She ran right back up there and jumped down the slide.... and came out the other end screaming. Needless to say, a 33 lb 3 year old goes faster than a 3 year old sitting on her Dad's lap. That was the one and only time she would even look at that slide.

Everly and Maddie both loved the riverboat that took us to Downtown Disney. We had a really good dinner at Wolfgang Puck and then wandered around. Maddie was getting so excited to see all the statues of princesses and I knew she was in for even more excitement when she saw them the next day!

We woke up at the crack of down (literally!) since the Magic Kingdom had extra magic hours our first day. That means that if you're staying at a Disney hotel you get to go in early before the park opens at 9 am. We got on the shuttle at 6:45 and I was already in need of a big cup of coffee! When the doors opened, there was a big crowd watching the opening show and Everly got so scared of all the people. Maddie on the other hand was sooo excited!

It was incredible to be able to be in the park early because we went on so many rides because there was literally no line. Amazing! Our first stop was to see Anna and Elsa which usually has a 2 hour line all day long. Since they were the first princesses the girls saw, they were both pretty shy. By the end of the day 1, we had seen Ariel, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Rapunzel and Cinderella. Everly loved Cinderella and jumped right in her lap. Maddie was hesitant around all of them up close. She would talk a big talk before and after she met them, but was pretty silent when she was standing next to them.
