We couldn't have planned the timing for our Florida trip better. I don't have seasonal depression, but it sure felt like I did with all the snow we were getting this spring in Minnesota! We were all excited to go down to Florida to visit my little sister and brother in law, Emily and AJ. They moved there right after Christmas, so we hadn't seen them in a long time. We have Facetimed (if that is even a word) with them, but Maddie was excited to show off all her new skills since the last time they saw her she was just a little crawler!
Our flight down to Florida was filled with little kids all heading down for spring break since it was Friday morning. Maddie slept more than half the flight and was so easy going the rest of the time. She of course waved constantly at all the flight attendants and they loved her by the end of the flight!
When we got to Florida it was already 90 degrees and we were all overdressed! I wasn't complaining! The first time my sister's puppy, Willa, saw Maddie she was really scared. She ran around barking because she had never seen a little person walking around before. They quickly became friends and Willa loved playing with Maddie and all of her toys. Her favorite was her pacifiers, so we had to quickly put them away after naps or they would get destroyed!
We went to a couple of AJ's baseball games and Maddie loved it! He plays for the Fort Myers Miracle (Twins minor league) which is why they moved down to Florida. There were two older couples sitting right behind us in the bleachers at the first game and Maddie was flirting with the men the whole time. She loved dancing to all of the players walkout songs and clapped everytime the crowd cheered! I think she actually watched the game some of the time as well because you could see her head follow the ball when someone was pitching!
Couldn't get her to look at me... only wanted to look at Uncle AJ!
Maddie loved being outside and explored everywhere she went. We spent an afternoon at the beach and Maddie sat under the umbrella playing with her sand toys for literally 2 hours. Putting sand into the cups, pouring sand out of the cups, put sand back into the cups... I was amazed at how long it entertained her! She was a little hesitant of the waves, but liked the ocean once we got past the spot where the waves break.
Although Maddie didn't have her crib, she did surprisingly well sleeping! One night she decided to stay up super late and one restaurant dinner was shortened because it was past her bedtime, but she slept well at night and took decent naps!
We were sad to leave sunny Florida, but Ben was so excited to see Maddie when we got home! 5 days is the longest he has ever not seen her. It looked like her hair grew a ton in 5 days, but it is because you can actually see her blonde hair now because her head got a little tan! Can't wait to visit again soon!
